Nagaur Fair, Nagaur

The Nagaur Fair, held annually in the Rajput town of Nagaur, Rajasthan, is the second-largest fair in India and takes place over eight days during January and February. Renowned for its animal trading, the fair attracts thousands of animals, all beautifully adorned with colorful accessories to captivate traders from various regions. Commonly referred to as the Cattle Fair, it sees the trading of approximately 70,000 bullocks, cows, camels, and horses.

Animal owners, dressed in vibrant turbans and sporting impressive moustaches, are eager to secure the best prices for their livestock. In addition to animal trading, the fair offers a variety of other attractions, including the Mirchi Bazaar (the largest red chili market in India), wooden crafts, and camel leather accessories.

The fair also offers exciting sports activities, such as tug of war, camel races, bullock races, and cock fights. As night falls, visitors can enjoy a magical atmosphere with campfires, puppet shows, and the soothing sounds of Jodhpur folk music, creating a truly enchanting experience amid the desert’s stillness.
