Pushkar Fair, Pushkar

Pushkar Fair, Pushkar

The Pushkar Fair, one of the largest camel fairs in the world, takes place annually for five days in the holy city of Pushkar, Rajasthan, on the banks of the Pushkar Lake. The fair is primarily known for the trading of livestock, including camels, horses, and cattle, with villagers from all over the state coming together to buy and sell their animals.

Over the years, the Pushkar Fair has evolved into one of India’s major tourist attractions, drawing thousands of visitors who come to enjoy the vibrant festivities. The fair features a variety of exciting competitions, such as matka phod, longest moustache, turban tying, and camel balancing contests.

In addition to the livestock trading, Pushkar Fair coincides with Kartik Purnima, when thousands of devotees flock to the lake to take a holy dip, believed to wash away sins. During this time, Pushkar transforms into a dazzling spectacle of color, music, and energy, creating an unforgettable experience for both devotees and tourists alike.
