Sariska National Park

Sariska National Park

Sariska National Park Overview

Sariska National Park, a Tiger Reserve since 1979 under Project Tiger, was once the private hunting ground of the princely state of Alwar. It spans over 800 sq km (309 sq miles), with a core area of 480 sq km (185 sq miles). Located in the Aravalli Range, the park features low plateaus and valleys that support a rich diversity of wildlife.

The tiger population at Sariska is estimated to be between 20 and 30, but sightings remain rare. In the past, it was reported that no tigers had survived in the reserve. However, forest guides are able to track recent sightings and sometimes lead visitors to glimpse these elusive predators.

Best Time to Visit

The park remains open year-round for pilgrims visiting Pandupol, but wildlife visits are not allowed during the monsoon season. The most comfortable time to visit is from November to March. For the best wildlife viewing, the warmer months offer excellent opportunities, even though they can be quite hot.
